B10 Art Female Proportions 1

Anyway, this is the first of possibly many breakdowns of Ben 10 character proportions in an attempt to better understand how to draw Ben 10 style. I used a pic of Charmcaster just because I had a pic of her lying around, but I also checked with Gwen and the proportions are about the same, so she's not to out of it to be unreliable. I now present my findings.

The average Ben 10 female figure is about 7 1/4 heads tall. The first head is obviously the head of the person. The torso is 2 heads long, while the legs are 4. The last 1/4 is the feet.

The neck and shoulders end and the arms begin just above half way down the 2nd head. This is why the neck is so long. The end just below the 2-3 head line. Typically in anime styles they end right on the line, but this is to compensate for the exaggerated neck.

The waist is in the middle of the 3rd head, as well as the elbows.

The tops of the leg joints are right under the 3-4 head line. The wrist is at about 3/4s of the way down the 4th head, and the fingertips almost half way down the 5th head. Each finger has 2 joints.

The knees are are exactly on the 5-6 head line. The calves peak half way down the 6th head. The ankles rest right above the 7-8 head line, and the heels land right on the line.

Going all the way back up to the face, the eyes are exactly half way down the head. (This may not be consistent, I've seen that Gwen's are a bit higher, but I'm not positive on that.) The nose is just above where the jaw begins to come to a point. The edges of the mouth almost line up with the inner corners of the eyes, but are a bit wider than that.


I'm going to do more of these later, one on males definitely, maybe some on species of alien that show up many times in the show, and then studies focusing on different body parts such as the face, arms, hands, legs, feet, torso, plus coloring/shading.
